Artist Statement
Solargraphy is long-exposure pinhole photography wherein a camera is fixed for an extended amount of time recording an image of traces of the sun across the sky on photo sensitive paper. The shutter is left open anywhere from 24 hours to six months and sometimes longer. Only the static and unmoving is visible in a solargraph as it will not capture moving cars on the highway or people walking by, however it records the paths of the sun across the sky, which in essence is the only thing in our solar system that remains stationary and constant, revealing a fascinating abstraction.
