Artist Statement
Color and texture are elements that get me really interested when I look at art. I like to draw the viewer’s attention in the same manner as they get immersed in a world that is not totally abstract, in which everyone interprets his or her own narrative. As it happens with any artist my style has evolved, I am feeling freer than in years past, more relaxed, less pressured to do things perfectly. I am really enjoying myself and I almost define my latest work as playful. My main influences have been Picasso, not only because of his versatility and incredible talent, but I like to study his ability to express so much with a simple line; I also enjoy Modigliani with his elongated figures full of imperfections as they exude greatness, I should mention as well that the textures and poignancy of Egon Schiele’s art sends my imagination through the right channels. I am also fond of Egyptian art and hope that in the future I can incorporate some of that spirit in my art.
