This month’s Featured Artist in DAM’s Elements Gallery is Carl Oxley III of Hamtramck. Carl’s work is often described to be bright, colorful, happy, cheerful, cute and cool. It makes people feel good. “Art for me is all about enjoyment. I love painting, and most of all, I love making people laugh and smile. I believe art should be accessible to everyone, and I try to make art that can be enjoyed by people of all ages, races, cultures, classes, and so on. Art belongs to everyone.” Carl will be exhibiting a new LARGE piece entitled "HAMTRAMCK". In this new series of works, drawing inspiration from graphic novels, ancient hieroglyphs and pictographs, Oxley pushes forward from the single character image, dividing the panel into multiple scenes telling a larger story.
