The focus in this exhibition is to bring together a group of artists who interpret the landscape genre in a unique and individual manner. The starting inspiration might be the landscape, but each one translates and presents “landscape” in a new perspective. These artists react to their environment and bring new interpretations to this time-honored genre. There is something going on that is not readily apparent – statements and observations are being made. Their narratives are thought-provoking and not so easily interpreted. They are telling a story and want the viewer’s attention and response. The works of these artists engage the viewer and pull them in for a continuing dialog.
This show features work by Yoriko Cronin, Andrew Krieger, Nicole Macdonald, Catherine Peet, George Rahme, Corine Smith. This month’s Featured Artist in DAM’s Elements Gallery is Brigette Neal featuring several brand new assemblages.
LANDSCAPE: A Modern Sequel - Opening Reception to meet the artists is September 11, 2009, from 6 – 9 p.m. This event is free and open to the public.
