DAM 2009-10 Exhibition Season Opens With “LANDSCAPE: A Modern Sequel”

Detroit Artists Market begins the 2009-10 exhibition season with “LANDSCAPE: A Modern Sequel ”.

This show features work by Yoriko Cronin, Andrew Krieger, Nicole Macdonald, Catherine Peet, George Rahme, Corine Smith. This month’s Featured Artist in DAM’s Elements Gallery is Brigette Neal featuring several brand new assemblages.

OPENING RECEPTION

Opening Reception to meet the artists in LANDSCAPE: A Modern Sequel is September 11, 2009, from 6 – 9 p.m. This event is free and open to the public. 

GALLERY TALK

Saturday, September 19, 2009, 2:00-4:00 p.m. , DAM will host a Gallery Talk with the exhibiting artists to discuss the landscape genre and the artists place within this spectrum.  John Gallagher , Detroit Free Press writer, will co-moderate this Gallery Talk. Mr. Gallagher is also an architectural critic and co-author of “AIA Detroit: The American Institute of Architects Guide to Detroit Architecture” and “Great Architecture of Michigan”.  Marilyn L. Wheaton , Director of  the Marshall M. Fredericks Museum at Saginaw Valley State University, will join as co-moderator.  Formerly the Director of Cultural Affairs for the City of Detroit, and a life-long supporter of the arts, Ms. Wheaton is the editor of “The Detroit Artists Market, 1932-1982”. This free event will also include a film screening of “A City To Yourself” by Nicole Macdonald , awarded the Best Michigan Film Award at the  Ann Arbor Film Festival.
