I believe that one can express their feelings to the fullest through art! The art of creativity comes from imagination and inspiration! My inspiration comes from many things around me, be it the bright colors of flowers, draping of a saree, a beautiful design of a vase or an interesting structure of a face. The medium of art I enjoy the most is pastel even though I have used some oils. Pastels gives me the freedom to play in creating layers of the skin or create smooth textures of a surface etc. I have done some landscapes and still lives but my first love is making portraits! The curves and lines on the face the shadows and light which defines the years of experience and the different emotions fascinates me. I take photos of the subjects and draw from that reference. I started learning art eight years ago from a local artist, Mr. William Williams who is an accomplished artist! His beautiful artwork is in many galleries all over united states. He taught me many techniques of this art with lot of patience. I am very lucky to be his student. I started with charcoal and soon went on to pastels. Oil was a much recent venture. It takes me many hours to complete a piece as I’m not satisfied until it speaks to me! The German artist, Anni Albers once said “Art is something that makes you breathe with different kind of Happiness” Creating artwork gives me immense pleasure and I want to continue doing this for the rest of my life!!
