Fire and Ice
I have been working across various mediums, in an interdisciplinary manner. While my passion is drawing, I also explore other avenues of visual expression, such as photography and print making. What I keep coming back to, however, is working with encaustic—molten wax with pigment—to combine it with other materials and images in a mixed media composition. My body of work extends from organic forms (trees, nature, or the human form) to the non-objective or abstract, all to evoke a feeling or to express a view of my own. I do have a restlessness to try new things, but I also work with the best of a chosen medium that allows me the widest opportunity to control or manipulate the imagery and determine how I might communicate something. This helps me to push boundaries in both material and expressionist ways.
