Artist Statement My work is a fluid personal exploration of form and meaning. My imagery moves from realism to abstract to cubist to symbolism and back again. Franz Klein, Miro, Kandinsky are a few of my influences. I am continually simplifying shapes, analyzing color and controlling the application of paint while combining the metaphysical with primal, archetypal images and forms. My work in watercolor explores form, color, and abstract imagery as well as line and wash. Mark Zapico is a graduate of College for Creative Studies and currently Associate Professor and Chair of the Advertising Department. Before joining CCS nine years ago, he was creative director and art director creating award-winning advertising for brands such as Pontiac, Cadillac, FTD, Mr. Goodwrench, Detroit Lions, Dow, AAA Michigan and many more.
